Bus
From the city center of La Rochelle, walk to the nearest bus stop at 'Place de Verdun'. Take bus line 3 towards 'Maillezais'. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Maillezais' stop. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to Rue du Grand Port where the Abbey Maillezais is located. Just follow the signs pointing towards the Abbey.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in La Rochelle. Head towards the bike path that leads out of the city towards the countryside. Follow the signs for 'Maillezais'. The ride takes about 25-30 minutes. Upon reaching Maillezais, continue straight until you reach Rue du Grand Port, where the Abbey Maillezais is located.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk from La Rochelle to Maillezais. Start from the Old Port area and follow the D137 road. The walk is approximately 10 kilometers and will take about 2 hours. Make sure to stay on the designated walking paths and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Once you reach Maillezais, turn onto Rue du Grand Port to find the Abbey Maillezais.
