From La Rochelle, head to the main bus station, 'Gare Routière'. You can take Bus Line 3 towards 'Fouras'. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Fouras' stop. From there, it's a short 15-minute walk to the Fouras Fort. Head towards the coastline and follow the signs towards the Fort.
Train
Make your way to the La Rochelle train station. Take a train to 'Fouras', which typically runs every 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the 'Fouras' train station, follow the signs to the bus stop and take Bus Line 3 towards 'Plage de la Falaise'. Get off at the 'Fort' stop, and the Fouras Fort will be right in front of you.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local shops in La Rochelle. Follow the coastal path towards Fouras, which is approximately a 10 km ride. The route is scenic and takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive in Fouras, follow the signs to the Fort, which is located near the beach.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from La Rochelle to Fouras. Start at the Old Port ('Vieux Port') and follow the coastline through the parks and paths for about 11 km. This scenic walk will take approximately 2.5 hours. Once you reach Fouras, follow the signs leading to the Fort.
