Car
From Carcassonne, take the D6113 road towards Limoux. After approximately 25 km, turn onto the D117 towards Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse. Follow this road for about 15 km until you reach the village. Once in Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, follow the signs for Château de Peyrepertuse. There is a parking area available near the entrance. Note that parking may incur a fee of around €5.
Public Transportation
From Carcassonne, take a train to Couiza-Montazels station. Trains run regularly, and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once at Couiza-Montazels, you will need to take a taxi or arrange for a rideshare service to reach Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, which is about 10 km away. Expect taxi fares to be around €15-€20. Upon arrival in Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, follow the signs to Château de Peyrepertuse, which is within walking distance from the village.
Walking
If you are already in Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, you can walk to the Château. The walking path is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The walk from the village center to the castle takes about 30 minutes and involves a moderate uphill climb. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially during warmer months.
