Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest major city, Béziers. Take the A9 motorway towards Montpellier, and then exit at A75 towards Millau. Continue on the A75 and take the exit towards Lodeve (D609). From Lodeve, follow the signs to Mons on the D27. Once in Mons, navigate to Le Verdier where Gorges Heric is located. The precise coordinates are 43.5737615, 2.9673369. Parking may be available near the entrance to the hiking area, but check for any local parking fees.
Public Transportation
To reach Gorges Heric using public transportation, take a train from Montpellier to Lodeve. The train journey takes about 1 hour. Upon reaching Lodeve, you will need to catch a local bus (Bus 615) that heads towards Mons. Get off at the stop closest to Le Verdier. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as services may be limited, especially on weekends or holidays. Once you arrive at Le Verdier, follow the marked trails to Gorges Heric.
Hiking
If you're already in the vicinity and prefer hiking, you can start your trek from Mons itself. Follow the signposts leading to Gorges Heric. The hiking trail is approximately 5 kilometers from Mons to the gorges and typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to walk, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water, as the trail can be steep and rocky.
