Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Béziers, which is about 30 kilometers from Pic de Tantajo. Take the D909 road heading towards Bédarieux. Once you reach Bédarieux, follow the signs to the town center. From there, take the D5 road towards the northwest. After approximately 10 kilometers, you will reach the parking area near the base of Pic de Tantajo. Be aware that parking may be limited, especially on weekends.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a train from Montpellier to Bédarieux. The train journey takes about 1 hour. Upon arrival at Bédarieux train station, you can either take a local taxi or a bus to reach the trailhead of Pic de Tantajo. Note that bus services may be limited, so check the schedule in advance. The taxi ride from the station to the trailhead should take approximately 15 minutes and cost around €15.
Hiking
After reaching the parking area or the trailhead, you will need to hike to the summit of Pic de Tantajo. The hiking trail is well-marked and typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the top, depending on your fitness level. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water and snacks.
