Perched atop one of Puissalicon's seven hills, the Château de Puissalicon stands as a testament to the region's rich medieval past. Constructed in the 11th century, the castle's strategic hilltop location was chosen for defensive purposes, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The castle is next to the village church.Over the centuries, the château has been owned by several prominent families, including the lords of Puissalicon and the powerful Boussagues family. Although now partially in ruins, the Château de Puissalicon still evokes a sense of its former grandeur. Two imposing towers remain, overlooking the remnants of the central keep.Today, the Château de Puissalicon is a listed historical monument, recognized in 1988 for its architectural significance. While the castle is privately owned, parts of it are open to the public during Heritage Days in September, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore this medieval fortress and learn about its history.
