Car
If you are driving to Calanque, start your journey by navigating to Cassis, a picturesque town located about 20 km east of Marseille. Use the address '37 Av. Jean Jacques Garcin, 13260 Cassis' in your GPS. Upon entering Cassis, follow signs for 'Les Calanques' and look for parking options near the town center. There are several public parking areas, but they can fill up quickly, especially during peak tourist season. Expect to pay around €1.50 to €3.00 per hour. Once parked, you can walk to the Calanque trailheads.
Public Transportation
To reach Calanque using public transportation, start by taking a train from Marseille to Cassis. The train station in Marseille is located at Gare Saint-Charles. Trains run frequently, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Cassis train station, exit and head towards the town center, which is about a 15-minute walk. You can follow the signs directing you to 'Les Calanques.' From the town center, you can either walk to the nearest trailhead or take a local bus (Line 21) that goes to Calanque de Port Miou, which may cost around €2.00 for a one-way ticket.
Hiking
After arriving in Cassis, if you choose to hike to the Calanque, the most popular route starts from the town center. Follow the signs to the trailhead for Calanque de Port Miou. The hike is moderately easy and takes about 30 minutes. You will enjoy stunning views of the cliffs and the sea along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially during warm weather.
