Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're driving, start from Marseille and head towards the D559 road, which leads you directly to the Calanques National Park. Follow signs for 'Calanques' as you approach the park. Once you reach the entrance, park at the designated areas near the Calanque de Sugiton or Calanque de Morgiou. Note that parking may incur a fee, typically around €5-€10 for the day, so ensure you have cash or a card ready.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Les Calanques using public transportation, take the Metro Line 2 to 'Rond-Point du Prado' station. From there, transfer to the bus line 21, which will take you to the 'Les Calanques' stop. Ensure to check the bus schedule ahead of time as services may vary on weekends and holidays. The bus fare is approximately €1.70 one way.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the park, you can access various hiking trails that lead to the different Calanques. For example, from the Calanque de Sugiton, take the well-marked trails that lead you through stunning landscapes. Be prepared for a moderate hike that can take around 30-60 minutes to reach the water's edge, depending on your pace. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, as facilities are limited.
