Perched on a rocky mountain spur, Château de Tournoël offers a captivating journey into the past. With origins dating back to the 10th century, the castle's strategic location made it a key defensive point, watching over the surroundings of Riom and the royal Mozac Abbey. The castle itself largely dates to the 12th and 13th centuries.Over the centuries, Château de Tournoël has been the object of sieges and power struggles, leading to its capture and remodelling. Today, visitors can explore the castle's apartments, guardroom, kitchens, and chapel during guided tours. The large keep provides panoramic views of the Limagne plains and Forez mountains.The current owners, Claude and Bernadette Aguttes, have dedicated themselves to preserving the castle and sharing its history with visitors.

The nearest bus stop to Château De Tournoël is Le Lac, which is a 12-minute walk to the castle. From the bus stop, follow the road towards the castle, and then follow the signs for pedestrians. The local bus, NAVETTE DE VOLVIC, stops at Le Lac. Bus fare is approximately €2.
