From the center of Lourdes, head to the 'Gare de Lourdes' train station. You can either walk (about 20 minutes) or take a local bus to the station. Once at the station, purchase a ticket for a train to 'Pau'. The train ride will take approximately 40 minutes. Upon arriving at 'Pau', transfer to a bus heading towards 'Panticosa'. Make sure to check the bus schedule for exact departure times as they may vary. The bus ride will take around 1 hour and will drop you close to the trailhead leading to Ibon of Arnales.

If you're feeling adventurous and fit, you can walk from Lourdes to the Ibon of Arnales. Start by heading east on Rue de la Grotte, then take a left to merge onto the D921 road. Follow this road out of town and towards the mountains. The walk is approximately 15 km and will take several hours, depending on your pace. Be prepared for a strenuous hike as the terrain becomes more challenging as you approach Panticosa.

Once you arrive at Panticosa, follow the signs towards the hiking trails for Ibon of Arnales. The trailhead is well-marked and begins at the end of the village. The hike to Ibon of Arnales is about 5 km uphill and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to wear sturdy hiking boots and carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
