Travel Guide to Place de la Croix-Rousse

Getting There

• Metro

  If you are near the city center, the easiest way to get to Place de la Croix-Rousse is by taking Metro Line C. Start at the closest metro station to you. Board the train heading towards 'Hotel de Ville - Louis Pradel' and get off at the 'Croix-Rousse' stop. Once you exit the metro station, follow the signs to Place de la Croix-Rousse, which is just a short walk away. The plaza will be directly in front of you.

• Bus

  You can also take the bus to reach Place de la Croix-Rousse. Look for Bus Line 31, which runs from the city center. Board the bus at the nearest bus stop and make sure it is heading towards 'La Croix-Rousse'. Get off at the 'Place de la Croix-Rousse' stop. The plaza will be right in front of you as you step off the bus.

• Walking

  If you are already in the surrounding area, walking to Place de la Croix-Rousse can be a pleasant experience. From the nearest major landmark, such as the Lyon Opera House, head east towards Rue de la République. Continue straight until you reach the banks of the Saône River. Follow the river until you reach the 'Pont de la Feuillée' bridge, cross it, and then ascend the hill via Rue des Farges, which leads directly to Place de la Croix-Rousse. This route offers scenic views of the city.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bike from one of the many bike-sharing stations in Lyon. Head towards the nearest station and rent a bike. Follow the bike lanes towards the Croix-Rousse district. Take the route along the Saône River, then follow the signs that indicate 'Croix-Rousse'. The ride up to the plaza can be steep, so be prepared for a bit of exercise!
