Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the city center of Toulouse, which is a common entry point in Midi-Pyrénées. Take the A61 motorway towards Carcassonne and continue until you reach the junction for the A66 toward Saint-Gaudens. After approximately 1 hour, take exit 21 toward Luchon. Follow the D125 road which leads you into the heart of the Pyrenees. The journey will take around 2 hours in total, covering a distance of approximately 160 km. Make sure to check for any tolls on the A61.
Train
For those preferring public transportation, take a train from Toulouse Matabiau station to Luchon. You can purchase tickets at the station or online. The train journey takes about 2.5 hours, and you will need to change trains at Montréjeau. Upon arrival in Luchon, you can rent a car or take a local bus to explore different areas of the Pyrenees.
Bus
If you’re looking for a more economical option, consider taking a regional bus from Toulouse to Luchon. This service is operated by Lio and offers several daily departures. The bus ride takes about 3 hours and costs around €10-€15. Once in Luchon, local transport options are available to take you deeper into the Pyrenees.
