Getting There

Parking & Shuttle

The final approach to Mont Saint-Michel involves parking in one of the designated parking lots on the mainland, located approximately 2.5 km from the mount. These parking lots are open 24/7, with rates varying depending on the season. As of May 2025, expect to pay around €9.80 during high season (April 1 to September 30) and €6.80 during low season (October 1 to March 31) for a car. Parking is free after 6:30 PM in low and mid-season. From the parking area, a free shuttle bus service, 'Le Passeur,' operates frequently from 7:30 AM to midnight (with possible variations depending on the season). The shuttle takes approximately 12 minutes to reach a drop-off point about 350 meters from the entrance to the village. Wheelchair-accessible shuttles are available. Alternatively, you can walk to Mont Saint-Michel along the causeway, which takes about 45-50 minutes.
Public Transport

If arriving by train at Pontorson station (the closest station, 9 km away), take the Normandy NOMAD bus line 308, which offers two stops at Mont Saint-Michel: the first at the stop named “Le Mont Saint-Michel” (formerly “La Caserne”), and then at the Terminus, located just 350 m before the entrance to the village of Mont Saint-Michel. From Rennes train station, a Kéolis bus takes you every day to the public lines' terminus, close to the shuttle place and the Tourist Information Centre. Once at the bus stop near the parking lot of Mont Saint Michel located about 2,5 kilometres (1,5 miles) from your destination, go about 100 metres to Place des Navettes by the same road where you got off the bus, where specially devised, ultra-modern free of charge shuttle buses called Passeurs will take you to the mount itself. These Passeurs operate from 7.30 am to midnight. Note that the Passeurs stop 450m away from the island itself.
