If you are in the city center, start at Place Masséna. Walk towards Avenue Jean Médecin, which is the main shopping street. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with Rue de l'Opéra, then take a left onto Rue de l'Opéra. Walk until you reach the end of the street, and then take a right onto Rue de la Préfecture. Continue walking straight until you see Place Pierre Gautier on your left. The Palais de la Préfecture will be located on this square.

From any point in Nice, locate the nearest tram stop. Take Tram Line 1 towards 'Hôpital Pasteur' and get off at the 'Opéra - Vieille Ville' stop. After exiting the tram, head towards Rue de l'Opéra and walk straight until you reach the end of the street. Take a right onto Rue de la Préfecture, and you will arrive at Place Pierre Gautier, where the Palais de la Préfecture is located.
