Getting There

• Bus

  From Nîmes city center, head to the Nîmes bus station (Gare Routière) which is located at 3 Avenue Feuchères. You can walk there in about 10 minutes from the historic center. Once at the bus station, purchase a ticket for La Grande-Motte. The bus services are frequent, so check the schedule for the next departure. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at La Grande-Motte, you will see signs leading towards the beach and the main promenade.

• Train and Bus

  From Nîmes, walk to the Nîmes train station (Gare de Nîmes) located at 1 Boulevard de l'Esplanade. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the city center. Take a train towards Montpellier (check the schedule for the next departure). The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Once in Montpellier, follow the signs to the tram station and take tram line 3 (towards Juvignac) to the 'Place de l'Europe'. From there, transfer to bus line 606 that goes directly to La Grande-Motte. The bus ride will take around 25 minutes.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Nîmes. Head towards the local bike rental shops, usually found near the city center. Once you have your bike, follow the route towards La Grande-Motte, which is approximately 20 km away. You can take the D40 road, which is relatively straight, but be cautious of traffic. The journey will take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your cycling speed.

• Walking

  Walking from Nîmes to La Grande-Motte is quite a long trek, approximately 20 km. If you are up for the challenge, start from the city center and head towards the D40 road, following it south. It will take you through some rural areas and past small towns. This journey can take more than 4 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
