Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto the A1 motorway, which connects various towns in Picardy to Paris. Follow the signs for Paris and merge onto the A3 towards Paris. Continue on the A3 until you reach the Périphérique (ring road). Take exit 29 for Porte de Bercy to enter the city. Follow signs for the Seine and then for the Île de la Cité. There is limited parking around Place Saint-Michel, so you may need to find a nearby parking garage, such as Parking Saint-Jacques, which charges around €2.40 per hour.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, take a train from your location in Picardy to Paris. The most common route is to take the TER (Transport Express Régional) train from any regional station (like Amiens or Compiègne) to Gare du Nord in Paris. Once you arrive at Gare du Nord, transfer to Metro line 4 (direction Mairie de Montrouge) and get off at the Saint-Michel station. From there, it's just a short walk to Place Saint-Michel, following the signs towards the Seine River.

  If you prefer to travel by bus, check for intercity buses that connect Picardy to Paris. Companies like FlixBus operate routes from various locations in Picardy to Paris. Once you arrive at a major bus terminal in Paris (like Bercy Seine), you can take Metro line 6 to the Quai de la Gare station, then transfer to line 14 towards Olympiades and get off at Châtelet. From Châtelet, it's a brief walk following the signs to Place Saint-Michel.
