Discover more about Montmeyan plage

Montmeyan Plage, situated on the shores of Lac de Quinson, offers a serene escape into nature's embrace. This charming spot is ideal for those seeking relaxation and outdoor activities in the heart of Provence. The beach provides a safe and inviting environment for families, with soft sands perfect for sunbathing and clear waters for a refreshing swim. Lac de Quinson itself is a reservoir created by the Gréoux-les-Bains dam in 1967 and is one of the more secluded lakes in the Verdon region, offering a wilder, more intimate experience than the better-known Lac d'Esparron or Lac de Sainte-Croix. The lake extends towards the Basses Gorges du Verdon (Lower Verdon Gorges), with a maximum depth of 50 meters. Visitors can rent canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and electric boats from nautical centers in Montmeyan and Quinson to explore the Basses Gorges. These gorges offer a unique blend of prehistory, nature, and diverse flora and fauna. Fishing is also a popular activity, with designated spots available near the Quinson bridge on the Montmeyan side. However, swimming is unsupervised, and caution is advised due to the sloping and unstable banks, deep waters, and fluctuating water levels. Montmeyan, a medieval fortified village, is nearby, offering historical and cultural attractions. The village has preserved its medieval architecture, including the Castelar Tower, and hosts a market every Friday.
