Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Driving
From the town of Valensole, the Route de la Lavande is easily accessible by car. Free parking is available on Boulevard Frédéric Mistral. From there, follow the D8 towards Puimoisson or the D6 towards Riez to explore the most famous lavender fields. Be aware that the roads can be narrow and crowded during peak season. Parking is generally free along the roadside near the fields, but be respectful of private property.
Public Transport
While a car is the most convenient way to explore the Route de la Lavande, public transport options are available. From Aix-en-Provence or Marseille, take a train to Manosque. From Manosque, bus line DLVA 133 runs to Valensole. The bus stop closest to the main fields is St. Grégoire, which requires a 12-minute walk. A single bus fare from Manosque to Valensole is approximately €3. However, keep in mind that the bus service is limited, and a car or taxi will still be needed to reach the heart of the lavender fields from Valensole.
