If you're driving to the Palais des Papes from anywhere in Provence, take the A7 autoroute (also known as the Autoroute du Soleil) towards Avignon. Exit at 'Avignon Nord' (exit 23) and follow the D225 towards Avignon city center. Continue on the D225, which will lead you through the outskirts of Avignon. Once you reach the city, follow signs for 'Palais des Papes' or 'Centre Ville.' There is limited parking available near the Palais, including paid parking options at Parking Palais des Papes. Expect to pay around €2.50 per hour.
Train
To reach the Palais des Papes by train, take a regional train (TER) to Avignon TGV station from various locations in Provence. Once you arrive at Avignon TGV station, you can take a local bus (Line 5) or a taxi to the city center. The bus costs around €1.50 and takes about 20 minutes. Get off at 'Palais des Papes' stop, which is a short walk to the entrance of the Palais.
Bus
If you're using the bus, check for services from nearby towns to Avignon. The main bus station in Avignon is located close to the Palais des Papes. From the station, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the Palais. Follow the signs to 'Centre Ville' and head towards Place du Palais. Buses typically cost around €1.50 for a one-way ticket.

For a more adventurous route, consider cycling to the Palais des Papes. There are bike rental services available in Avignon. Once you have a bike, follow the dedicated bike lanes towards the city center. Be sure to lock your bike at the designated bike parking near the Palais.
