Initially dedicated to Monseigneur de La Roche-Aymon, it was later dedicated to Talleyrand. In 1935, it was moved to align with the north tower of the cathedral and the Cours Jean-Baptiste Langlet and a medallion was added to honor Jean-Baptiste Langlet, mayor of Reims during World War I. In 2009, it was moved again to its current location to accommodate the construction of the Reims tramway.Today, the Fontaine des Boucheries stands as a reminder of Reims' commitment to preserving its past. While the square surrounding it is now peaceful, it once bustled with the clamor of commerce.
