Jardin Ferroviaire: A Miniature World in Motion

The Jardin Ferroviaire, or Garden Railway, in Chatte, France, is a captivating display of miniature landscapes interwoven with an elaborate network of model trains. Created from Christian ABRIC's passion in 1986, what started as a few rails in his orchard has evolved into one of Europe's most charming animated miniature gardens.The garden spans 1,300 square meters and features over 300 plant species, carefully shaped using Japanese Niwaki pruning techniques to create a sense of perspective and scale. Thirty model trains with 250 wagons traverse the landscape, passing through miniature villages, crossing rivers, and climbing mountains. The attention to detail is remarkable, with scenes of everyday life and nods to famous films adding to the enchantment.More than just a model railway, the Jardin Ferroviaire is a garden in the truest sense, offering a space for relaxation and discovery. Visitors can wander through the detailed scenery, spotting miniature versions of regional landmarks and enjoying the harmonious blend of nature and craftsmanship. The Musikiosk, a recent addition, offers a sensory experience with musical, visual, and sound structures crafted from recycled materials.The garden is open from March to early November.
