  • Public Transport

    The Opéra national du Rhin is easily accessible by public transport. Take tram lines B, C, or F to the Broglie stop, which is right in front of the opera house. Alternatively, take tram lines B, C, E, or F or bus lines L6, 15, or 72 to the République stop, a short walk away. A single tram ticket costs €2.50 when purchased on the bus or €1.90 if loaded on Badgéo card, CTS App. A 24-hour solo ticket is available for €4.60.

    The Opéra national du Rhin is located in the city center on Place Broglie and is easily reachable by foot from many central locations. From the Strasbourg-Ville train station, walk straight along the Avenue de la Marseillaise, then turn right onto Place Broglie. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes.

The opera house, built in a Neo-Classical style, opened its doors in the following year and after World War II, it was renamed Opéra national du Rhin. The building's exterior showcases intricate sculptures and a grand facade, while the interior boasts a luxurious foyer adorned with chandeliers and paintings. TheOpéra includes the Opéras in Strasbourg, in Mulhouse, where the Ballet de l'Opéra national du Rhin is based, and in Colmar, with its Opéra Studio, a training centre for young singers. The opera house has hosted performances by renowned opera singers and dancers, contributing to the development of the opera repertoire. The Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg and the Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse are the usual orchestras of the Opera. The building that houses the opera was built between 1804 and 1821 by the architect Villot. The performances take place in the Opéra de Strasbourg, in Mulhouse at La Filature or at the Théâtre de la Sinne and in Colmar at the Théâtre municipal.
