Place de la République: The Heart of Strasbourg

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from Strasbourg Cathedral, head south on Rue des Grandes Arcades towards Rue du Dôme. After about 5 minutes of walking, you will reach Place de la République. The square is located directly ahead once you cross the intersection with Rue du 22 Novembre.

• Tram

  From the Strasbourg Cathedral, walk to the nearest tram stop called 'Langstross - Grand' which is about a 5-minute walk. Take tram line A (the blue line) towards 'Illkirch Lixenbuhl'. After 4 stops, get off at 'Republicains - Les Halles' station. From there, it's a short 3-minute walk: head straight on Rue de la République until you reach Place de la République.

• Biking

  If you have access to a bike, you can rent one from a local bike-sharing service. Start from the city center and head west towards the river. Follow the bike paths along the riverbank, and then turn left onto Rue de la République. Continue straight, and you will arrive at Place de la République in approximately 15 minutes.

• Public Bus

  From Strasbourg Cathedral, walk to 'Hôtel de Ville' bus stop, which is about a 5-minute walk. Take bus number 10 towards 'Neuhof – Les Deux Rives'. After 3 stops, get off at 'République' stop. From there, it's just a 2-minute walk to Place de la République, head straight on Rue de la République.
