Getting There

  • Driving

    Utopix is located on the Causse de Sauveterre, near Sainte-Enimie. From Sainte-Enimie, follow the D986 towards the Causse de Sauveterre. Be aware that GPS navigation may not be entirely accurate, so pay close attention to road signs. The drive is approximately 10-15 minutes. Parking is available on site. Parking de la Gravière is another option. Be aware that it can get very busy.

  • Public Transport

    While public transport options directly to Utopix are limited, you can take a bus to Sainte-Enimie and then a taxi to Utopix. From Mende or other nearby towns, take the liO car 259 or 258 to Sainte-Enimie. A taxi from Sainte-Enimie to Utopix will cost approximately €20-€30. Bus fare is around 2€.

Utopix, a sanctuary of creativity and imagination, is the life's work of artist Jo Pillet and his family. Located on the Causse de Sauveterre, near Sainte-Enimie, this extraordinary place offers panoramic views of the diverse Causse landscape. Built on a promontory, Utopix showcases forests, dry grasslands, and cultivated fields, creating a stunning backdrop for the art within. The adventure began in 1975 when Jo Pillet and his wife purchased the land, with construction starting in 1979. The family built a home and exhibition space with a unique architecture featuring curves and cupolas reminiscent of igloos, blending seamlessly with the natural environment. Over the years, Jo Pillet developed sculpture-games around the house, offering fun for all ages, including a mini-golf course, a giant pinball machine, and a labyrinth. Visitors receive a basket of balls upon arrival to play the various games. Art enthusiasts can explore Pillet's universe, including his sculptures, paintings, and the incredible architecture of his home. Utopix is a perfect place for a fun family afternoon, where children can enjoy the unusual games and open space.
