The racecourse spans 65 hectares and is situated in the heart of the country's primary horse training area, adjacent to the Chantilly Forest. Its tracks are grass, with a main course of 2,400 meters and another at 2,150 meters, plus a round course adaptable from 1,400 to 2,400 meters. The grandstands, initially built in 1847 and reconstructed in 1881 by Honoré Daumet, can accommodate up to 30,000 spectators. Chantilly Racecourse hosts nearly 200 races annually, including the prestigious Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) and the Prix de Diane (French Oaks), established in 1836 and 1843, respectively. These Group 1 races attract equestrian professionals, families, and tourists. The Prix du Jockey Club occurs on the first Sunday of June, and the Prix de Diane is on the third Sunday of June. Besides the horse races, events such as concerts, workshops, parades, and vintage car displays occur. The racecourse is managed by France Galop and owned by the Institut de France. In addition to racing, Chantilly serves as a training center for over 3,000 racehorses.
