Explore 7,000 years of Asian art and culture at the Guimet Museum, one of the largest collections of its kind outside of Asia.

4.6

Located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the Guimet Museum offers an immersive journey through Asian art and culture. Founded by Émile Guimet, an industrialist with a passion for Eastern religions, the museum first opened in Lyon in 1879 before moving to its current location in Paris in 1889. The museum's collection spans various Asian cultures, including those of Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Tibet, India, Nepal, China, Korea and Japan. Visitors can explore sculptures, porcelain, paintings, textiles, and more, representing a vast period from the Neolithic era to the present day. Highlights include Chinese sculptures and porcelain, an Angkor Buddha, and a 17th-century samurai armor. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and guided tours. The Guimet Museum is not only a place for preserving art but also a space for cultural exchange. The museum boasts 5,500 m² of galleries with natural light. In addition to its collection, the museum offers a panoramic terrace with views of Paris, a Japanese garden, and a variety of cultural events.
