    Discover more about Musée Daubigny

Located in the heart of Auvers-sur-Oise, the Musée Daubigny is a tribute to Charles-François Daubigny (1817-1878), a landscape painter who significantly influenced the Impressionist movement. The museum resides in the Manoir des Colombières, a 17th-century manor house facing the Auberge Ravoux, where Vincent van Gogh spent his final days. This proximity allows visitors to trace the evolution from pre-Impressionism to post-Impressionism simply by visiting the buildings on either side of the road. Daubigny settled in Auvers-sur-Oise in the 1860s and was initially inspired by the Barbizon School. He later embraced more modern techniques, becoming known for painting outdoors, even setting up his easel on his studio-boat, 'Le Botin', on the Oise River. The museum displays Daubigny's riverine paintings, along with works by his son Karl and other artists from his circle, such as Honoré Daumier and Jean-François Millet. The permanent collections are exhibited on the ground floor, while temporary exhibitions are presented on the first floor. The Musée Daubigny was founded in 1984 by a group of art enthusiasts. Today, the museum continues to highlight Daubigny's contribution to art history and the artistic legacy of Auvers-sur-Oise.
