Discover more about Saint-Cloud National Estate

The Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, located just west of Paris, is a 460-hectare park that offers visitors a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Originally the site of a royal château, the estate has been shaped by figures like Catherine de Médicis, Louis XIV, and Marie Antoinette. While the château itself was destroyed during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, the meticulously designed gardens, created by André Le Nôtre, remain a major draw. The estate's history dates back to 1577 when Catherine de Médicis acquired the land. Over the centuries, it served as a summer residence for French royalty and played a role in significant historical events, including Napoleon Bonaparte's coup d'état. The park's design showcases classical garden art, with features like the Grand Cascade, fountains, and sculptures. Visitors can explore the vast grounds, enjoy panoramic views of Paris from the terrace, and discover hidden gems like the Pavillon du Piqueur, which offers eco-friendly workshops. The park also hosts various events throughout the year, including the Rock en Seine music festival and the Lumières en Seine light show. The Musée Historique, located at the entrance to the Cour d'Honneur, tells the story of the estate and its vanished château. Today, the Saint-Cloud National Estate is a popular destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the city. Its expansive green spaces, historical landmarks, and stunning views make it a unique and memorable place to visit.
