Walking
From the Palace of Versailles, exit the gardens and head towards the main gate. Once outside, turn left onto Avenue de Paris. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the Versailles Rive Gauche train station. Take the train to Paris, direction 'Gare Saint-Lazare'. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the 'Gare Saint-Lazare' station. From there, walk to the nearby 'Gare de l'Est' metro station and take Line 4 towards 'Mairie de Montrouge'. After 6 stops, get off at 'Châtelet' station. Transfer to Line 1 towards 'La Défense' and after 2 stops, get off at 'Hôtel de Ville'. Exit the station and you'll find yourself at 6 Pl. de l'Hôtel de Ville, Paris.

From the Palace of Versailles, walk to the bus stop 'Versailles - Château' located near the main entrance. Take bus line 171 towards 'Saint-Cyr - Les Fossés'. After about 20 minutes, get off at 'Gare de Versailles Chantiers'. From there, catch the train to Paris, direction 'Gare Saint-Lazare'. The train ride will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at 'Gare Saint-Lazare', walk to the nearby 'Gare de l'Est' metro station. Take Line 4 towards 'Mairie de Montrouge'. After 6 stops, get off at 'Châtelet' station.
