A more plausible explanation points to the old French word "courbées" (curved), describing the steep, curved relief surrounding the lake. Over time, "Lac des Courbées" transformed into "Lac des Corbeaux".Formed over 10,000 years ago by glacial activity, Lac des Corbeaux has also been partially modified to produce electricity.
