Parc de Wesserling: A Textile Heritage and Garden Oasis

Parc de Wesserling is a captivating destination that combines industrial heritage with natural beauty. Situated in the Thur Valley, at the heart of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, the park showcases a remarkable period of textile production in the late 19th century. Once a royal textile factory, the site supplied printed fabrics to the royal court and stands as one of only two textile factories in France to receive this designation. The park features five distinct gardens, each offering a unique sensory experience. These include formal French gardens, an English park, a kitchen garden, a field garden, and a contemporary statuary garden. Visitors can explore the Textile Ecomuseum, which brings the factory's trades to life through dramatized tours and exhibitions. The museum highlights the different stages of transforming cotton into printed fabric, showcasing the skills and techniques that shaped the region's history. Throughout the year, Parc de Wesserling hosts a variety of events, including the Festival des Jardins Métissés (Mixed Gardens Festival) from June to October and Christmas in the Garden in December. These events add a contemporary artistic dimension to the site's rich history. The park also offers a barefoot path for a unique sensory experience and invites visitors to relax and connect with nature. Spanning 42 hectares, the Parc de Wesserling provides a blend of relaxation, artistic creation, and historical exploration.
