From the center of Husseren-les-Châteaux, follow the signs towards the Trois-Châteaux (Three Castles). The trailhead for Sentier de l'écureuil is located near the parking area for the castles. The walk from the village center to the trailhead is approximately 15-20 minutes.
Driving
From Colmar, take the D83 towards Eguisheim, then follow the D14 to Husseren-les-Châteaux. Continue towards the Trois-Châteaux; parking is available near the trailhead. Parking costs are generally free.
