From the center of Punaauia, head towards the main road, Route de la Plage. Walk along this road heading west until you reach the intersection with Route de l'Opunohu. Cross at the pedestrian signals to safely continue on Route de l'Opunohu. Follow this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will notice signs for hiking trails as you approach the Plateau Vaitavere area.

Catch the local bus (Route 1 or Route 2) from any bus stop in Punaauia. Ensure to inform the driver that you wish to get off at the stop closest to the Plateau Vaitavere trailhead. The bus fare is typically around 200 XPF (Pacific Francs). Once you disembark, follow the signs directing you to Plateau Vaitavere, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
