Car
If you're driving, start on Route 2, the main road that runs along the coast of Tahiti. From Papeete, head south on Route 2 for about 35 kilometers (approximately 40 minutes). Look for signs for Papara. Once you reach Papara, turn onto the Unnamed Road. Continue straight for about 5 minutes, and you'll arrive at Taharuu Beach, which is located on your right. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that it may fill up quickly on weekends.
Public Transportation
To reach Taharuu Beach via public transport, take a bus from Papeete to Papara. Buses run regularly, and the fare is typically around 400 CFP (about $4 USD). The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Papara, you will need to walk for about 15 minutes to get to Taharuu Beach. From the bus stop, head towards the coast and follow the Unnamed Road until you see the beach on your left. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return trips to avoid being stranded.
