Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Libreville. Take the N1 road heading south towards Pointe Noire. After approximately 60 km, turn onto the D25 towards Pongara. Continue on the D25 for about 15 km until you reach the beach area known as Pointe Pongara. Follow signs to Pongara Lodge, which is located along the coastline. Make sure to have GPS enabled as the roads can be less well-marked.

To reach Pongara Lodge via public transport, first take a bus from Libreville to Pointe Noire. The buses depart regularly from the central bus station and the fare is approximately 5,000 CFA francs. Once you arrive in Pointe Noire, you will need to negotiate a taxi or a local shared taxi (clando) to take you to Pointe Pongara. The taxi ride should cost around 2,500 CFA francs. Confirm with the driver that they will take you directly to the lodge or to the nearest drop-off point.

If you arrive at a nearby drop-off point via taxi or local transport, you may need to walk the last stretch to Pongara Lodge. The lodge is located approximately 1 km from the main road. Follow the path toward the coastline and look for signs indicating the lodge's entrance. The walk will take you through some scenic areas of Mayombe Forest.
