Getting There

    From Batumi, take the E70 road heading south towards Sarpi. Drive for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach a sign for Gonio. Turn left onto the Gonio road and continue for about 5 kilometers. The fortress will be on your right side. Parking is available near the entrance, and there are no significant fees to park.

  • Public Transportation

    From Batumi, you can take a marshrutka (minibus) towards Sarpi. The marshrutkas leave from the Batumi bus station located in the city center. After about a 30-minute ride, ask the driver to drop you off at the Gonio stop. From there, it's a short 1-kilometer walk to the fortress. Follow the signs towards Gonio-Apsaros Fortress. The marshrutka fare is around 1 GEL.

    If you are already in Gonio village, you can walk to the Gonio-Apsaros Fortress. The fortress is about a 15-minute walk from the village center. Just head towards the Gonio beach and follow the signs leading to the fortress entrance. There are no additional costs for walking to the fortress.
