Bakuriani Ski Resort, located 1,700 meters above sea level in the Borjomi Municipality, is a celebrated mountain and ski destination with a rich history spanning two centuries. Once a key training base for Soviet Winter Olympic athletes, it has evolved into a modern, four-season resort attracting families, beginners, and seasoned winter sports enthusiasts. During winter (December to March), Bakuriani transforms into a snowy paradise with over 30 kilometers of ski runs catering to all skill levels. The resort features three main skiing areas: Didveli, known for its varied trails; Kokhta, favored by advanced skiers; and Mitarbi, a recently developed area connected to Didveli. Modern lifts, snowmaking machines, and night skiing options enhance the skiing experience. Beyond skiing, Bakuriani offers a wide array of activities, including snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice skating, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Families can enjoy the skating rink in the central park, kids' parks, and the alpine coaster. In the warmer months, Bakuriani is ideal for hiking, paragliding, and cycling. The alpine botanical garden offers scenic trails, and the surrounding spruce and beech forests provide a therapeutic climate. The resort also boasts mineral springs and is near hot springs in Tsikhisjvari, adding to its appeal as a health and wellness destination. Getting to Bakuriani is straightforward, with options including minibuses from Tbilisi and Kutaisi, train via Borjomi, or private car. Once in Bakuriani, local taxis and shuttle services provide convenient transport to the ski lifts.
