Discover more about Giorgi Tatulashvili Ceramics Studio and Museum

Nestled in the heart of Gori, the Giorgi Tatulashvili Ceramics Studio and Museum invites tourists to explore the intricate world of Georgian pottery. This captivating venue serves as both a studio and a museum, showcasing the craftsmanship and artistry that has been passed down through generations. Visitors can admire stunning displays of handmade ceramics that highlight traditional techniques and contemporary designs, making it a true treasure trove for art enthusiasts. The space is vibrant and welcoming, providing an intimate atmosphere where guests can appreciate the beauty and utility of each piece. Giorgi Tatulashvili's ceramic workshop is among the outstanding artisanal workshops in Georgia. The ceramist learned the craftsmanship from his ancestors, father, and grandfather, who also worked on traditional ceramics. Years ago, the Tatulashvili family's house was a gathering place for the local community. The family was famous for their works, and honorable guests were always brought there by their hosts. The master's works include bowls, jugs, jars for sour milk, wine vessels, and other tableware. Giorgi is especially praised for his white glazed vessels with blue floral ornaments. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, traditional ceramics, both glazed and unglazed, were widely developed and spread throughout Georgia. There were 50 manufacturing centers all over the country. One of them was Gori, a city where glazed ceramics were produced and especially known for its diversity of style. Yellow and purple glazed ceramics with original green floral ornaments were also peculiar to Gori glazed ceramics. Giorgi Tatulashvili continues these traditions. In addition to exhibits, the studio often hosts pottery workshops where visitors can engage in hands-on experiences, learning about the pottery-making process from skilled artisans. This interactive approach enriches your understanding of Georgian culture and allows you to create your own souvenir to take home.
