Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey in the town of Motsameta, which is easily accessible from major towns in Guria. Head northwest on the main road, following the signs towards Gelati Monastery. After approximately 10 minutes of driving, you'll reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork and continue for about 5 minutes. Look for signs indicating Gelati Monastery. The final stretch will lead you through a scenic route surrounded by nature, and you'll soon see the monastery's stunning architecture in the distance. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, start by taking a marshrutka (minibus) from the central bus station in Kutaisi to Motsameta. The fare is around 1 GEL and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Motsameta, you can walk to Gelati Monastery, which is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. Just follow the road signs towards the monastery. Alternatively, you can hire a taxi from Motsameta to the monastery, which should cost around 5-10 GEL.
