Getting There

• Car

  From Khevi, take the main road towards Zhinvali. Follow the signs to Zhinvali reservoir, which is approximately 10 km away. Once you reach the Zhinvali area, continue along the road that leads towards Barisakho. The road is well-marked. You will pass through scenic landscapes and may encounter some minor road conditions. Drive carefully as the roads can be winding. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at Barisakho. From here, continue on the same road towards Shatili for about 20 km. Look out for signs directing you towards Datvisjvari Pass. You may need to park your car at a designated parking spot and walk the last portion to the pass, which is about 1 km on foot.

• Public Transportation

  First, find a local minibus (marshrutka) heading towards Zhinvali from Khevi. The marshrutkas usually leave from the central station in Khevi. The trip to Zhinvali takes about 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive in Zhinvali, you can either hire a taxi or look for another marshrutka that goes towards Barisakho. If available, take this marshrutka, which should take approximately 30 minutes. After arriving in Barisakho, you will need to walk approximately 1 km to reach Datvisjvari Pass. Be sure to check with locals on the availability of public transport and confirm the return schedule.

• Hiking

  If you're feeling adventurous and fit, you can hike to Datvisjvari Pass from Barisakho. After reaching Barisakho by car or public transportation, look for the trailhead that leads towards the pass. The hike is approximately 5 km and will take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have suitable hiking gear, carry water, and check the weather conditions beforehand for a safe journey. The trail offers stunning views and once you reach the pass, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding areas.
