Getting There

  • Car

    From Tbilisi, take the E117 highway towards Gori. Continue on this road for about 90 km until you reach the town of Gori. From Gori, follow the signs for Surami, taking the local road that leads you into Surami. The fortress is located on a hill just outside the town center. You can park your car near the entrance of the fortress.

  • Public Transport (Minibus)

    From Tbilisi, head to the Didube bus station. Look for a minibus heading to Gori, which should take about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival at the Gori bus station, transfer to a local minibus (marshrutka) heading to Surami. This ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop near the center of Surami and follow the signs to the fortress, which is a short walk uphill.
