The final approach to Black Grouse Waterfall involves a 9.5 km (5.7 mile) hike from the Lagodekhi National Park Visitor Center. The trail is well-marked with yellow, white, and black markers. Follow the path along the Shroma River, crossing it at certain points using stepping stones. The hike is considered moderately difficult, with some steep and narrow sections, and takes approximately 3-5 hours. Proper hiking equipment and sure-footedness are needed.
Public Transport
To reach the Black Grouse Waterfall using public transport, take a minibus (marshrutka) from Tbilisi's Isani Metro Station to Lagodekhi. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours and costs around 7 GEL. From Lagodekhi, take a taxi to the Lagodekhi National Park Visitor Center, the starting point of the trail to the waterfall. Taxis are available near the bus station, the market, and the Nature Reserve entrance. The taxi fare should be pre-negotiated, but expect to pay around 12+ GEL. From the visitor center, follow the walking directions to the waterfall.
