If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Mestia, which is the main hub in Svaneti. Head east on the main road (E117) towards the village of Zhabeshi. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach Zhabeshi. From Zhabeshi, take the road leading to the village of Ushguli. This road will take you through some beautiful landscapes and is well marked. Keep driving for about 1.5 hours until you reach the village of Ushguli. From Ushguli, continue on the road for another 15-20 minutes until you reach the parking area near Tabatskuri Lake. Be sure to have a GPS device or a reliable map as some parts of the roads may be challenging. Parking is usually free but check local signs.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start from Mestia and take a minibus (marshrutka) headed to Ushguli. This trip will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Ushguli, you will need to hire a local taxi to take you to Tabatskuri Lake, which should cost around 20-30 GEL. The taxi ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting the trip. Since marshrutkas may not run frequently, check the schedule in advance.
