Travel Guide to Gondola to Mt. Kokhta

Getting There

• Car

  From Vardzia, head east on the E117 road towards Akhaltsikhe. After approximately 35 km, turn left onto the road leading to Bakuriani. Follow this road for about 20 km until you reach Bakuriani. The gondola station is located at PGHJ+QG5, Didveli area. Look for signs directing you to the Gondola to Mt. Kokhta. Parking is available near the gondola station, but be aware of any local parking regulations.

• Public Transportation

  From Vardzia, take a minibus (marshrutka) heading to Akhaltsikhe. These minibuses run frequently and you can catch one from the central bus station in Vardzia. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Upon arriving at Akhaltsikhe, transfer to another marshrutka heading to Bakuriani. This leg of the journey will take around 1 hour. Once in Bakuriani, ask for directions to the Gondola station, which is located in the Didveli area. There may be a small fee for the marshrutka rides, typically around 5-10 GEL in total.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Vardzia to Bakuriani. This will provide a comfortable and faster option to reach the gondola station. The journey is approximately 55 km and should take about 1 hour. Expect to pay around 50-70 GEL for the taxi service. Once you arrive in Bakuriani, the taxi driver can drop you off directly at the Gondola to Mt. Kokhta.
