From Vardzia, head northeast on the local road (Mtkvari River road) for about 10 kilometers until you reach the E117 highway. Turn right onto the E117 and proceed for approximately 5 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Mtkvari Canyon and turn left onto a smaller road leading to the canyon. Follow this road for another 5 kilometers to arrive at Mtkvari Canyon. Parking is available near the canyon entrance.

From Vardzia, take a minibus (marshrutka) heading towards Apnia. These usually depart from the central area of Vardzia. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop for Mtkvari Canyon, which is around 15 kilometers away. The fare is approximately 2-3 GEL. From the drop-off point, walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the canyon entrance. Check the return schedule for marshrutkas back to Vardzia.
