From Vardzia, head east on the E40 road towards the town of Aspindza. Continue on this road for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Apnia. Turn right onto the local road towards Apnia. After about 5 kilometers, you will see signs for Mtkvari Canyon. Follow these signs to the canyon entrance, which is located at GPS coordinates 41.3727187, 43.2820022. Parking is usually available near the entrance.

From Vardzia, take a marshrutka (minibus) from the central station towards Aspindza. The journey takes about 30 minutes, and you will need to tell the driver to drop you off at the turnoff for Apnia.
