The decision to build the stadium in Sportpark Soers, close to the original location, was made after fans protested an initial proposal to construct it near the airport outside the city. Construction began in 2008 and was completed in just over a year. The stadium boasts a capacity of 32,920, including standing and seated areas, creating an electric atmosphere during matches. For international games, the seating capacity is adjusted to 27,250.
