    Discover more about Seilbahn Zugspitze

The Seilbahn Zugspitze is more than just a cable car; it's an experience that whisks you away to the top of Germany. Opened in December 2017, this modern marvel replaced the old Eibsee Cable Car and immediately set records with its construction. It boasts the highest steel support pylon for aerial tramways in the world, the longest unsupported span, and the greatest overall height difference within a single section. The journey begins at the valley station near Eibsee, a picturesque lake nestled in the Bavarian Alps. As you step into the spacious, floor-to-ceiling glass cabins, anticipation builds. The ascent is swift, covering a staggering 1,945 meters in altitude in just a few minutes. The panoramic views unfold as you rise, revealing the stunning beauty of the Wetterstein mountains, Eibsee below, and, on clear days, vistas stretching across four countries. At the summit, a sprawling terrace awaits, offering panoramic views. The Restaurant Panorama 2962 provides a place to relax and soak in the scenery. For those seeking even more adventure, the Gletscherbahn (glacier cable car) connects the summit to the Zugspitzplatt, a high-altitude plateau with hiking trails, restaurants, and even Germany's highest church. The Zugspitze has a rich history of accessibility. The first ascent was in 1820, and the vision to make the summit accessible to all led to the construction of the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway in the early 20th century. Today, the Seilbahn Zugspitze continues this legacy, offering a comfortable and awe-inspiring journey to the top of Germany.
