    From Munich, take a train to Prien am Chiemsee (approximately 1 hour). From Prien station, either take the Chiemsee train to Prien/Stock boat pier (seasonal) or walk for about 30 minutes. From Prien/Stock, a ferry to Herreninsel takes about 15 minutes. The museum is located within the New Palace, a 20-minute walk from the island's boat landing. Ferry cost: €9.90 for adults, €4.90 for children (6-15 years) for the island tour west (Prien /Stock, Gstadt or Bernau to Herren- and Fraueninsel).

    From the Herreninsel boat landing, follow the main path towards the New Herrenchiemsee Palace. The walk is approximately 20 minutes through the island's gardens and parkland. The King Ludwig II Museum is located on the ground floor of the palace's south wing.
