    From the Parkplatz Klause, the closest parking area to Hochfall, follow the signs for Hochfall Waterfall. The walk is roughly 20 minutes. The trail is a narrow hiking path that leads to the waterfall. There is no entrance fee.

    Take the Waldbahn train to Bodenmais Bahnhof (train station). From the train station, you can walk to Hochfall Waterfall, which is about a 30-minute walk. Alternatively, you can take a local bus from the Rathaus in Bodenmais. Check the local bus schedule for availability, as services may vary. The bus will drop you closer to the waterfall, reducing the walking time. Walking and bus transport are free with the Gästekarte.

Over thousands of years, the Moosbach stream has carved a near-circular basin, called a 'Gumpe,' into the hard gneiss rock. The water plunges into this basin before flowing under a wooden bridge and cascading further down. The layered structure of the Arber gneiss is particularly visible here. The surrounding area offers scenic hiking trails through the forest. A narrow path leads around the Hochfall, allowing for a circular hike. Hikers can also enjoy views of the Moosbach stream and the surrounding forest. The trails can be steep in places, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Bodenmais itself is a popular resort town in the Bavarian Forest, known for its outdoor activities.
