    Walking

    If you're starting from Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom), head south on Trankgasse toward Unter Fettenhennen. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the bustling Hohe Straße. Turn right onto Hohe Straße and walk until you reach the end of the street. Here, it will turn into Alter Markt, a historic square surrounded by cafes and shops. Continue through Alter Markt, and you will see the beautiful fountain. From Alter Markt, head towards the left side where you will see a path leading to Buttermarkt. Follow this path, and you’ll soon arrive at Buttermarkt, located in the vibrant Innenstadt district.

    Walking

    If you are near the Cologne Central Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof), exit the station and take the direction towards Domplatte (the plaza in front of the cathedral). From there, walk straight towards the cathedral, and then follow the previous directions from the cathedral towards Buttermarkt.

    Public Transport

    If you are further away, you can take the U-Bahn (subway). Board the U-Bahn line 16 or 18 at any nearby station toward either the station 'Neumarkt' or 'Heumarkt'. Once you arrive at either station, exit and follow the signs to the nearest exit that leads to the street level. From 'Neumarkt', head towards the south-west direction and walk straight onto Breite Straße until you reach the junction with Alter Markt. From 'Heumarkt', walk northwest along the river until you reach the Alter Markt. From here, follow the same walking directions to Buttermarkt.
